Paraná River Tragedy: Three Argentines Die in Paraguay

A tragic incident occurred in southern Paraguay, resulting in the deaths of three Argentine citizens, including a minor. The accident happened on Saturday night on the Paraná River, in the Ñeembucú department. The women were returning by boat from a tourist trip when the vessel capsized. Preliminary reports indicate that adverse weather conditions—heavy rain and strong winds—combined with the use of an unsuitable boat for the river's currents, likely caused the overturning. Two minors (aged 11 and 16) were rescued alive by local fishermen. Currently, Paraguayan authorities are conducting an intense search for a missing man.

Police Commissioner Damiano Cano stated that the tragedy occurred when the group was returning to Argentina after spending the day on a tourist island near the town of Cerrito. He noted that the weather and the inappropriate boat for the river were likely the causes of the accident. Meanwhile, two children managed to survive thanks to the help of fishermen.
