
Mexican sport shooter, Jorge Rodríguez Guerrero, is preparing to compete in the Junior Pan American Shooting Championship in the 10-meter air rifle event. The goal of this competition is to secure his participation in the Pan American Games Lima 2027. The event will feature over 4,200 athletes from 41 countries, competing in 28 sports and 43 disciplines, serving as a platform for future international competitions.
Coach Daniel Zacarías Urquiza Salas will also be part of the Mexican delegation, serving as the national team's delegate. Rodríguez Guerrero has been selected to represent Mexico at the championship to be held in Asunción, Paraguay, from February 27 to March 6, in an effort to promote the development of sporting talents.
The Junior Pan American Games, inspired by the Youth Olympic Games, are designed for athletes under 21 years old and are organized by Panam Sports. This quadrennial multi-sport competition brings together young athletes from across the American continent. The first edition took place in Cali, Colombia, from November 25 to December 5, 2021, with over 3,000 athletes from 41 countries competing in 28 sports and 42 disciplines.
Urquiza, who has been instrumental in Rodríguez Guerrero's preparation as an athlete, will accompany the Mexican shooter during the championship, providing support, managing logistical aspects, and resolving any off-sport issues that may arise. The selection of Cali as the host city for the Junior Pan American Games was made on March 27, 2019, surpassing the bids from Monterrey and Santa Ana, El Salvador.
