Club Racing sold out all available tickets for the Copa Sudamericana final through an online sale that attracted nearly 300,000 people. However, controversy arose on social media due to an error on the website and a common pattern among the access codes.
The sale of the 12,500 tickets began on Monday at 11 AM, causing frustration among fans trying to purchase them due to the irregularities that occurred during the buying process. To obtain the tickets, fans had to log in to Racing Pass to get a code which they then had to use on the South American Football Confederation's website.
However, it was discovered that some users, when logging out of the Racing page and logging back in with another user, received different codes that allowed them to purchase more tickets. The first people to successfully buy the tickets noticed that there was a pattern in the codes: RC (for Racing Club), two numbers, one letter, and two more numbers.
The high demand caused the website to crash, as many people were trying to connect simultaneously to secure their ticket for the match that will be played on November 23 against Cruzeiro at the "La Nueva Olla" stadium in Asunción, Paraguay, which has a capacity of 45,000 spectators.
Fans began trying various combinations in hopes of getting a valid ticket, but those who received a correct code only to find out it was discovered by other users were met with the disappointment of the system informing them that the code had already been used, losing their chance to acquire their ticket for the final.
These inconveniences generated discontent among Racing Club followers, who were eagerly hoping to attend the decisive match.
