Paraguayan Air Force finds burned Bolivian-registered plane

The Paraguayan Air Force found a Bolivian-registered plane burned out on Saturday in the department of Concepción (north), bordering Brazil, which entered the country irregularly, a military source told EFE.

The incident occurred after the National Civil Aviation Directorate (Dinac) reported to the Air Force the activation of an emergency beacon from the aircraft, a C-210 with Bolivian registration CP-3187, so an overflight with helicopters and a Super Tucano was initiated, which allowed the aircraft to be spotted.

The aircraft was found wrecked near a farm.

«That aircraft had a flight registration from a Bolivian locality to another, but it did not have a flight plan or authorization to enter Paraguayan territory,» said the commander of the Paraguayan Air Force, Julio Fullaondo.

After inspecting the crash site, authorities confirmed that the aircraft was «capsized» (upside down), which led them to suspect that the crew had an accident during landing or in an attempt to take off. «It is an irregular flight, it entered the country irregularly,» he added.

Colonel Fullaondo did not rule out that the plane may have been used for drug trafficking and indicated that no human traces were found at the site, so they estimate that the crew survived the accident.
