The Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Giménez, announced that 150 Paraguayan producers will directly benefit from the first export of locote to Argentina, thus marking a positive transition from farmers to agro-exporters. Giménez emphasized the importance of consolidating planned and structured production to allow Paraguayan families to continue growing in the agro-export sector.
The initiative, led by an association of producers mostly consisting of farmers, aims to open new markets for Paraguayan locote. Although the current price may not be the most favorable, it is highlighted that this agreement will help alleviate pressure in the national market and improve production planning.
Carlos Giménez explained that Argentina represents an important market for the excellent production of locote in Paraguay, which motivated the search for new opportunities. Under this association, the first shipment of 15,000 kilos of Paraguayan locote will be sent from the San Antonio Company in Coronel Oviedo to Argentina.
This milestone in agricultural export represents a significant achievement for local producers, who have worked in coordination with the neighboring country to finalize this agreement. The shipment of the first load of locote to Argentina is the result of weeks of negotiations and prior agreements on other products, highlighting the importance of this new phase in the agro-export sector in Paraguay.
