Arrest of Suspect in Jennifer Campos Murder Case

A 38-year-old man, identified as Gabriel Molina, was arrested in Paraguay last Thursday for his involvement in the murder of Jennifer Campos, a 13-year-old teenager, in the Buenos Aires town of Virrey del Pino in January 2024. Molina, who acted as a driver and then facilitated the escape of the other individuals involved in the crime, was captured in the Paraguayan town of Santa Rosa, where he had been hiding for the past few months.

Molina's arrest was the result of a joint operation between the DDI of La Matanza, the Intelligence of the National Police of Paraguay, and Interpol. Molina already had an international arrest warrant in Paraguay and was apprehended near the Juana García School, in compliance with a request from the Criminal Court of Guarantees Number 3 of Asunción, the Paraguayan capital.

With Molina's capture, four people have now been detained for the murder of young Jennifer Campos. Previously, Ramón Martínez López, Augusto Vigo Caniza, and Germán Benítez had been arrested, while another suspect remains at large.

The tragic event took place on January 18, 2024, when three individuals entered the home of Franz Campos Rioja and Ruth Calle in Virrey del Pino, subdued the homeowners, and stole cash. In the midst of the confrontation, the teenager Jennifer stepped between her parents and the thieves, receiving a gunshot to the chest that caused her instant death.
